Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the Octavius V. Catto Community School's webpage for the 2007 - 2008 school year. The staff and I are looking forward to your being a part of our school family. We need your full support and participation.

Our mission at Catto Community School is to provide a school climate that promotes and maintains our high standards and high expectations for student achievement and performance. Our goal is to recognize and meet the individual needs of our diverse student population. To this end, we will work to address barriers to learning through a comprehensive and multifaceted educational program. This includes technology and excellent school and community resources. We believe in educating the whole child. We work to develop caring and cooperative students who accept responsibility, respect themselves and others, and strive for excellence in their academic performance and social behavior. Individuals such as these will be able to contribute to a safe and non-violent environment for living and learning in an ever-changing multicultural world.

We are a Uniform School, and we expect all of our students to participate in our uniform program. Catto Community School's uniform consists of a white or light blue top with a navy blue or khaki bottom. If shorts are worn, they must reach the top of the knee. Navy blue or light blue sweaters may be worn when necessary. Shoes with enclosed toes must be worn at all times with the exception of days scheduled for physical education (At this time, sneakers may be worn.).
